Getting Around Medellín: Airport, Uber, Metro and Our Driver

One of the first questions patients ask is how they’ll get around in a city they don’t know, in a language they may not speak. The short answer: it’s easier than you think, and you won’t be doing it alone.
From the airport: our driver can be waiting for you
International flights land at José María Córdova airport (MDE), in Rionegro, about 45 minutes to an hour from the city. You don’t need to find a taxi or speak Spanish: we arrange for our English-speaking driver to be waiting for you when you come out and take you straight to your apartment, and to take you back at the end of your trip. The rides are paid separately.
To the clinic: about 5 to 6 minutes
Your apartment in El Poblado is about 5 to 6 minutes by car from the clinic. Most patients simply take an Uber: it’s widely used in Medellín, easy to order in English and inexpensive. If you’d rather not, our driver can take you. Just let us know what you prefer.
The metro: clean, simple and fast
Medellín’s metro is a source of local pride, and it shows: it’s clean, safe and easy to use. Poblado station connects you with downtown in about 20 minutes, and from the line you can switch to the Metrocable, the cable cars that go up the hillsides. Buy a rechargeable card at the station and you’re set.
Walking around El Poblado
Around Parque El Poblado, Provenza and Parque Lleras, walking is the nicest way to get around: leafy streets, parks and plenty of places to stop. Take the usual big-city care, like anywhere else, and keep your phone handy.
A few practical tips

- Use the app for rides. Uber or another ride app lets you see the route and price upfront.
- Plan around your appointments. Leave a little extra time at rush hour, and rest after a procedure.
